Just finished the album. Still rules of course, though I still stand by my opinion that Obsidian shouldn't have been extended to 8 minutes

It would be the best 8 minutes ever written.

yea Obsidian was dragging but overall this still slaps. I'm giving DEI a spin now
Demon, you don't like this? I think it's the first time our tastes differ hahaha

I recognise you as a champion of post-metal, so perhaps yeah

Meshuggah are proving to be a tough nut to crack, almost impenetrably tough in fact. I just find most of their stuff rather monotonous and repetitive.

Man! I really dug this but DEI is just blowing my mind right now, sooo thrashy
I felt a bit overwhelmed when I listened to this for the first time and it was my first Shuggah, maybe I should've started somewhere else

That's what I initially thought of them (I originally gave Obzen a 1.5 review), but they grew on me significantly over time

it has been many years now

but then perhaps I just haven't reached that part of my life where they hit, it does happen on occasion

True. Yet who knows, they might just not be your thing.

@DemonOfTheFall, this is a fair introspective reflection. With an open minded approach like you indirectly confirm, the connect feature might struck anytime.

And, if it does not, like Trif said, it is totally ok, because this is something that cannot be forced to happen. Cheers, Friday, yes!

Love Obsidian but it didn't have to be 8-minutyfied in my opinion. It's one good groove for sure.

Chaosphere just recently surpassed this for me, and it's getting scarily close to Catch-33.

I guess to clarify my take on obsidian, I agree that it doesn't need to be 8 mins long, but it sounds WAY better than yellow version imo
