this album is far less abrasive than axe to fall but i would argue that actually makes it less likely to succeed commercially because of the style converge plays.

It's just the feeling I get from it. There's a lot of doom and stoner undertones on this one, to me at least.

besides converge have absolutely no interest in making music specifically to please more people, anybody who knows the character of any member of this band especially kurt would know that even if it is more accessible to more metalheads it wasn't intentional

I definitely hear the old Mastodon, but I think that's really just 90s Entombed coming through. Old Mastodon just sounded a lot like Entombed too, not that it's a bad thing.

Looks like this is staying @ 4 for me. It's sweet but just ain't as interesting as JD/YFM etc. and I doubt reading the lyrics when I finally get my preorder in the mail will change that.
