I dunno...I think progressive metal got better a little later, unless you're including Death in your 80s progmetal list. 90s had Dream Theater, Opeth, Gojira, Agalloch, Cynic, Devin Townsend, Meshuggah, Symphony X...I definitely prefer 90s progmetal

70s progrock pwns the rest of progrock though

80s prog metal had lethal, psychotic waltz, fates warning, watchtower, sieges even, voivod, queensryche to name a few and dream theater are 80s btw but yea they didnt make a great album till the 90s i guess
