thanks for the question

Was just listening to the remaster.
But yes, pretty much this is one of the albums that invented prog rock. Floyd, Genesis, KC, Camel, etc., all drew from this.
Weirdly enough, DoFP and PatGoD (Moody & Floyd respectively), came out on the same year.

1967 may have been the most decisive year for rock & metal music, quite a few important albums came out that year.

Absolutely.
A revolutionary event happened, rock n roll became art and was held in the hands of the the creative, innovative and expressive who were the progenitors of everything that has happened since.
1977 was bringing it back to its simplest foundations and another seismic cultural event happened with the punk explosion.
That ten year time frame covered 70% of everything that is presented 60yrs later but just repackaged and regurgitated.
Would I swap the chance to hear the Doors debut or Hendrix in ‘67 for the first time compared to anything that has been released since 2000.

Easily.

65-67 were definitely the years when bands/labels began to prioritize selling fully produced albums rather than just vehicles for hit singles. Between Rubber Soul, Pet Sounds and this, probably the most significant evolution of popular rock music in such a short timespan

Album woth planning a sound system around. Absolutely essential. One of the most important pop-art pieces in 20th century.

It's solid, hugely overrated tho. Wouldn't make my top 5 Beatles list. It does contain 3 of their very best tracks, so there is that.
|
| |
@Galbador exactly, even though I'm more of a Stones fan, what would give the Beatles the nudge is the innovation of those latter 60's records and the influence they had on how pop albums were written and produced thereafter

There is nothing Beatles has done that comes even close to this(exept the songs cut from this Aka best singles ever). Even though I also love revolver and rubber souls.

are you trying to tell me we got a bunch of Abbey Road deniers itt?
I won't have it
my Beatles opinions are extremely basic but Abbey Road and this are their two classics imo. This album is a little bit overrated, Abbey Road too probably, but both are classics to me. Revolver has higher peaks but has a few kind of whatever songs, and self-titled is bloated and overrated. Let it Be underrated, Rubber Soul probably slightly underrated too.
Yellow Submarine sucks and Magical Mystery Tour has to be one of the most overrated albums of all time
I love the Beatles but also kind of agree that they are probably overrated

I definitely enjoy the vintage psych pop of this album, especially tracks like LSD--one of their coolest tracks. A Day In The Life is obviously a goat track. She's Leaving Home is beautiful and up there with their best too. I just think there's a good bit of filler, even 10 plays later. Within You Without You is a worse Tomorrow Never Knows; When I'm Sixty Four is just... fine, there's nothing particularly special about it; the Hearts Club Band tracks are way too short; Mr Kite...exists; With A Little Help is undeniably iconic and fun but has never been a highlight for me. And Getting Better, Fixing A Hole, and Lovely Rita are all great. I don't rate them on the same level as the first 3 I mentioned, but solid regardless.
Abbey Road absolutely smashes this album though, imo. White Album too but I know that's a hot take I prob couldn't reasonably defend lol.

white album is peak beatles. abbey road doesn’t touch this.

Abbey Road is better than this too yea. I don't like Yellow Sub but if we're talking about songs that drag an album down, Good Morning is infinitely worse. bottom 5 Beatles song
