Its better than Vol. 4 agreed, but theres just something about this that draws me to it more than Sabotage.

a wise man once said Sabotage has the 'best 3 in a row' of any Sabbath record - which compromises about half the record as well

quite a statement

The best 3 in a row doesnt necessarily mean I think those songs are better than everything on here. And thinking

about it now, Iron Man/Electric Funeral/Hand of Doom gives it a run for its money.

Negative

the problem with the t/t is that the whole is NOT greater than the sum of its parts. don't care for ozzy's vocals either as they are at their whiniest and he strains way too much.

I dont have any problems with it. Its a top 5 Sabbath song for me and one of Tony's best riffs.

Laguna Sunrise and Changes are "barely" Sabbath songs.

FX isnt really a song though, so I'm only saying Fluff its better than 3/9 from Vol. 4.

im with titan here, fluff is all right but how can it beat cornucopia and st vitus??

also, this is probably the weakest album out of the first 6, and less consistent too (vol. 4 kinda suffers from inconsistency too)

Fluff is an awesome laid-back acoustic song that shows Sabbath at their most experimental. Its definitely their best instrumental, while St. Vitus Dance is just a short rocker. Its got a nice riff but not exactly a standout. For what it is Fluff is better.

As for consistency, I think this is very consistent since the best tracks are spread out pretty evenly. The first half is probably slightly better than the second though.

i dont find it that consistent, t/t, spiral and killing are better than the rest, which are good songs, but not the monumental stuff sabbath had me used to

sabotage beats this in almost everything imo

I find the experimentation mixed with the typical heavy Sabbath sound to be at its best on here. Theres a certain aura about this album.
