Epicus/Tales are just a lot more inspired (and indeed completely filler-free) than the rest. For a Candlemass elitist there is only these two albums.
Budgie is correct for once, Nightfall is pedestrian and a kind of lazy, simplified doom. And that's their third best.

I have heard Nightfall a million times bc I'm very fond of epic doom but it always felt weaker and lazier than those other two albums.
