well uggh, I might just have to give this a 5, In The Flowers is such a brilliant opener, Summertime Clothes is so groovy, Daily Routine leaves me in a daze near the end, Lion In A Coma is intense and Brothersport is probably the best song of 09, so gloriously epic.

I disagree that this is more confident. I think it shows a lack of confidence to fall back onto more poppy formulas; Feels in its meandering and lack of predictable structure is sure of itself, whereas this feels almost apologetic at times. The repetitive tracks prove this. I genuinely think In The Flowers might be my favourite AC song and Summertime Clothes rules face too; the rest of the album is good but doesn't live up IMO.

I dunno, I think it's cool that they're trying to branch out into something a little more poppy and accessible. I think that it was a brave move, as there were no doubt chances that they'd be alienating some fans of their more experimental/inaccessible work.

:p

It's weird though because all my musical leanings would suggest I'd enjoy this more. I don't know, just gets too samey / repetitive and doesn't hit anywhere near the highs (GET IT) of Feels. Or Sung Tongs, for that matter.

Strawberry Jam is great. "You think "I'll carve a path through New York and be an artist", but are you anything?"

Yeah, Strawberry Jam and this are the two Animal Collective albums I go to when I get the urge for them but Feels is my favourite overall.

before MPP came out, Strawberry Jam had a year long stint where it never left my car.
