The earlier works just have a magic about them that can’t be matched by more modern and finely produced albums, although DT’s work throughout the mid-2000s definitely has another kind of magic of its own. Fiction was probably the end of that era for me but I’ve still enjoyed everything they’ve done since then

The more raw and lo-fi production is definitely a part of the appeal when it comes to the older albums and makes them distinct, like Darkthrone’s Goatlord or At the Gates’ With Fear I Kissed the Burning Darkness. As much as people want those to have better recordings and production, they’d lose something special in the process. But it’s not for everyone I guess lol

This is so fucking good

People gotta fucking crank this in the car or something and really pay attention, latch on to those sick melodies and let them flow through you

It's really not that far behind though. I do personally like The Gallery more, even though my wording probably gave the impression that I liked them equally. But I can def see why someone might like it as much or more.

I really need to re-spin Minds I, it's been far too long. But yeah from what I recall it's not even close to this in terms of quality.

it took a while to grow on me but its def my fav now.

they trimmed down what they did on the gallery and upped the studio production a bit. although ill say moments like the intro of punish my heaven are probably better
