Lol @ any of the tracks on this so much as holding a candle to anything on Vol. 3

this album gets worse with time, where i feel like i still get pumped listening to their first three

in fairness, Vendetta is a p. pumping anthem. vocals are very stone sour-y as well, which is strange.

oh and that's another thing, this is basically a stone sour album.

This just sounds heavy for heavy's sake without any strong songwriting to back it up

the slipknot/stone sour comparisons really need to stop, they really don't sound very similar at all and they never have.

I think this album has its Stone Sour-y moments. Vendetta, Dead Memories, and Snuff all sound like they could have been written by SS.

@spirit, not until this album they haven't. I agree, it's a stupid comparison, but AHIG was so stylistically and sonically similar to the point that the arguments suddenly begun to have actual merit

Perhaps, but main thing that separates them is the instrumentation. If not, you can clearly hear which songd corey had a big influence in

Not so much all the instrumentation, but just the drumming. Guitars are pretty similar in most songs from both SS and this album.

The way I see it, the slower pace, the inclusion of the ballad-that-grows-into-a-metal-song track, the vocals, and the overall alienating of turntables/sampling are what really shine through the comparison holes this album makes.

Yeah, I suppose but the style is also different, obviously. I don't find that many similarities but I've heard from other people that they prefer SS to slipknot

Oh lol, I thought you guys were comparing Suicide Silence and these guys for a second because of the SS abbreviation. I was like, "what the hell do they have in common?" :P

i was thinking SS the german military organization and i was also confused

I *kind of* agree with Vendetta, but I feel like there's something darker that separates both Dead Memories and Snuff from really being anything Stone Sour would put out.

Idk, i just feel like every member of slipknot (err, well, anyone who is not a random percussionist) has such an identity, that they are pretty impossible to be compared to. If it wasn't for Corey there would not be any comparisons whatsoever.

exactly. if Corey chose to, say, start up a K-Pop supergroup, I'm fairly certain that would get compared against Knot regardless.
