Seems like a strange criticism. Discombobulated maybe, but esoteric or incomprehensible, not really. Red Velvet Corridor is a creepy drone intro. Helpless Child is a really depressing post rock track. Volcano is a weird synth punk song.

Helpless Child, Live Through Me, The Sound, Empathy and Secret Friends are all immaculate jams.

Red Velvet Corridor, The Beautiful Days, Mellothumb, YRP, and Surrogate Drone too. Those are the top 10 best tracks on here imo. I like Volcano but I can't help but feel it could've been like half its length.

I listened to every Swans album from CoG to this at work all week and got to this today, which I haven't jammed in like 2 years, maybe 3. It makes a lot more sense to me now, probably because of all the other other weird stuff and ambient music I've discovered since then. There's some tracks that don't really do much for me, but most of this is excellent and I love the diversity of the whole thing. So many different soundscapes and experiments to experience in here.

Now that my discog jam is complete, this has been bumped to my second favorite, only after White Light.

The track I found to be very wonderful on this year's return - Empathy

the mood on it seems very unique, even to this era of Swans

it's very melancholy, but not too maudlin

These guys might actually be one of the worst ‘respected’ bands I’ve honestly ever heard. Their music does nothing for me, at all. Boring.

Ok, Volcano from this one is alright, think I might have woken up for a minute or two.
