"general lack of musical ability on this"

technically speaking the playing here is all super basic / immature. lots of the leads go out of key, lots of the playing is

really sloppy/not tight, etc

"nero do u play an instrument"

Guitar and bass and sometimes drums but i'm not that great. Its just that the music sucks me in that I
only end up noticing the lack of playing skill when I specifically listen out for it.

the atmosphere created is really great yeah, so its easy to overlook sometimes, but still i find myself cringing at some of

the playing sometimes.

@danny not to sound like a dick dude, but its not realllllllly something you can disagree on. riffs/leads being in key and

on time are objective things. if you disagree that it detracts from the music then sure

@clim: I really don't think about any of that when jamming this, plus it doesn't irk me at all.

Time signatures are the last thing I think about when it comes to jamming music. I mostly care about melody, atmosphere, vibes, etc.

And I'm prob one of the most nitpicky users on the site when it comes to guitar, since I play guitar myself. Although I'm not too proficient.

i had formal music training for like 6 years so that kind of thing sticks out to me instantly. honestly it gives the album some of its charm though, and adds a human element to it. i can't lie though, i wish the guitar playing was a little tighter.

I'm one of those guys who sometimes likes the idea of breaking the law when it comes to music conventions anyway.

Especially when it comes to bands like Death or Atheist, I have such a hard time NOT thinking about time signatures and

the little intricacies of the bands' sounds. I love hearing the different changes in tempo and dynamics with each

composition, which is why moments like the outro of Perennial Quest or instrumental works like Cynic's Textures appeal

to me so much. But I know when to turn the brain off and just have fun too, which is why I enjoy so much cheesy pop

music xD
