My 3.0 personally is because Ian Curtis is maybe the worst singer of a good band I've ever come across, like I get it's part of the whole sad bleak vibe but holy fuck his voice is so bad

closer is less raw and less visceral; but darker and more calculated.

unknown pleasure one reeks of desperation, of quiet inner turmoil. closer is more hopelessness and bleak (bitter even?) it's more consistent and has better production (significantly better vocals imo). the lows aren't nearly as low, but the highs aren't quite as high as they are on this one.

This is just a total slog to get through compared to Closer

some great songs on here, but good lord it's just a fuckin snoozefest at some points

Curtis' vocals are perfectly fine, but he's definitely not as loud on Closer as he is on this

this album is very sloppy. which both helps and hurts it's case.

He puts like no energy in his singing tho. It's always like a half beat behind. He sounds like he's singing held at gunpoint
