Heard the new one last night. Like most of what I've heard from this band, it sounded extremely homogeneous on first listen. I feel like I have to listen to their albums multiple times before I can really start to differentiate tracks. The production and musicianship sounded on point as always though. Gonna go back to it this morning while I do some dishes.

I was trying to explain to my girlfriend who has never really listened to Immolation or Archspire why I liked one's new album better than the other, and I was having a suprisingly hard time finding the right words. like it's not the musicianship. it's not a gap in creativity. it's just like, one feels like the guys drink beer and own books, and the other feels like the guys do coke and think in memes. and I vibe with the first one because I'm an old fuck.
