honestly everything ive heard about this band rn makes it sound like they only care about how to max out profits which uh makes the new one a. make perfect sense contextually and b. probably pretty embarrassing seeing the giant numbers drop off

upside down is probably my least favorite song true, but thats actually a pretty interesting one to single out from a theory perspective because i think basing those three notes around a parallel key make it sound sort of ambiguous sometimes whether the song is in g or d, which is a subtle way of making that type of writing interesting because its harder to tell which direction its more pulled towards. that's a great example of what on paper is normally pretty disengaging and doing something cool with it

oh its dope as fuck my man. basically when you got two keys that have a lot of overlapping chords you can write melodies that use enough overlap between the two that its hard to tell exactly which it belongs to. adds some nice spice and mystery. i really like it
upon further reflection i definitely got my terminology mixed up and those are not called parallel keys lmao (that refers to same key signature but different notes so like major v minor). not my finest day
