oh sure it isn't that they *aren't* self-aware, i'm sure they are, but the presentation just doesn't deliver that vibe to me. it's a very hard balance to strike and i think they were still figuring out how to in that album.

Dropping this to a 4. Still a great album, but it can seriously get overindulgent at times. Miasma is especially pompous and not in a good way.
