I wish I hadn't used "hate", since that is such a strong word. I dislike all but W&T, yeah.

That album just has that formula I like from post-hardcore and/or metalcore albums. Beautifully sung choruses between the chaos and riffage.

See I’m veeeeery picky with clean vox in those genres, Glassjaw has always done it brilliantly though. I like that Material Control is a bit more subdued with its vocal melodies, gives it a nice contrast to W&T.

I’m surprised you don’t at least think highly of Our Color Green, that one is pretty close to W&T but with a lot more riffs and screams

Idk. I guess the riffs and the vocals were both at their peak on that album (imo) and everything else just pales in comparison, which is why I don't like any of the others. The songwriting on their later stuff (especially this album) is just weird and offputting to me.

It’s a bit less straightforward yea, but that’s a plus for me personally

Agreed. A testament to how awesome this band is, is that I grew up on the first two records and they're still 2 of my favorites. Yet, the eps and this sound way cooler these days to me than the first 2 (still love those). Basically what I'm saying is this tiny, frustrating discography is one of the best out there.

Never really listened to these guys but hear they’re amazing. What are the essentials? I know Coloring Book and Green are considered to be essential but I can’t track any CD copies down on amazon etc (yes, I still listen via CD).
