451 reminds me of The Doors for some reason...no idea why.
But anyway, I can't stop listening to this. First 5 songs are perfect. The last batch are growing on me, aside from "Batter Up" which is more perfection.
I feel like they released all those random songs inbetween Daisy and this to temper our expectations so when the real stuff finally came out we would all die of greatness. I got the sense that most people assumed that this would be sort of a let down upon release. Boy did they prove us wrong, well at least me.

Slightly underwhelmed, but probably just 'cause I'd been seeing the hype everywhere for like 2 days before I could actually listen. A couple tracks here felt totally inconsequential to the grand scheme of things, same case for many of the soundbites throughout, though the great ones (the "Daisy"/seven times reprise, the intro) are really really good
Fave track on first listen was easily "137." The opener and closer, "Same Logic/Teeth," and "451" were the other highlights imo. Weird to hear Jesse get adopt a narrative voice as straight-up sinister as the one he does on "Desert"
Probably my 3rd fave by them after TDAG (still the GOAT) and Daisy.

was wondering what the significance of the cover art was and then I remembered "she said goodbye to the ground and jumped". Quality fan service
still have no clue about the album name though, seems deliberately at odds with all the music

yeah, definitely wondering what's up with the album title
didn't really spot any correlation with the lyrics either

the interlude at the end of In the Water has to be a reference to how long it took to release this album. theres the "i dont know about you but i never get tired of it" sample and then another sample cuts in saying "in seven years." 7 years from Daisy would have been last year, but maybe they finished that particular song last year.

it was supposed to come out last year but then they spent another year making adjustments to it, though I interpreted the "seven years" line as a double reference, also to "Limousine." Combined with the "Daisy" sample, to me it seemed to be a self-deprecating eerie joke about having to sing the same depressing songs all the time and the emotional toll that can take on a performer.
