about half of this was written before his son died too which makes it even more amazing how cohesively it hangs together

Or that makes it seem even more overwrought

It's all about perspective

wait so half of it being written prior to the death of his son is what makes this overwrought to you even though no one even knows which half it is?

gotta say that sentence makes literally no sense buddy

Was yanking your chain mostly lol

(Though I do find this somewhat overwrought/borderline silly in places)

I called out right across the sea

The piano work on here is especially sorrowful.

Yea the piano in the title track is especially touching and affecting. Girl In Amber also punches you in the face with it's lyricism. So sad.

Hard to describe how I feel about this album, I jam it regularly but definitely not an album I can say is 'enjoyable'.

Hard to enjoy is not the right term for me. I'd say it's more "difficult to listen to". This album absolutely blows me away every time i listen to it and not only was it AOTY for me but also one of my top albums of all time at this point. However, it's hard to come back to because of how emotionally destroying of an album it is

Met a dude at a thursday concert whose listened to this thing daily since its release. I dont know how he does it
