I remember this being really well received, but some of the fanbase was surprised and disappointed with the 70s and 80s electronic/disco/r&b influences this album had and not enough guitar.

Yeah, wtf this album sounded like it was designed by Pitchfork committee at the time.

I think the phrase is ‘this was 100% on trend’

I'm with Doof here, this album fit in perfectly with the 80s pastiche that was oh-so-popular in the middle of the decade.

A bit big n’ bland innit, like M83, ‘Reflektor’,

A sort of approach that transcends genres

It was just very very Pitchfork

I do like a lot of this album overall - even if it’s a little bland/melodically indistinct then produced to the nth degree

One of the best production jobs I’ve heard over the past few years tbh.

Then again I’ve not been venturing out on new music as much.

A great production job that can’t disguise the fact the first track is head and shoulders above the rest sadly.

It happens, an opening tune shows how great a project could have worked...but then the songs get a bit middling and the sound becomes a bit samey.

Let It Happen is definitely the best track but it’s not my favourite, if that makes any sense lol.

@Rowan Jamming now and I’m singing that verse already, banger.
