you can hear the sentimental value that lots of these tracks have - the last three particularly

i haven't really been listening to this band much either
it comes in waves, sometimes i'll get on an anberlin kick and listen to them for a couple days but it'll be over and i'll be listening to soundtrack music or classical or indie or something

That's kind of how all music becomes after a while...even my top albums of all time don't get played all the time.

Yeah it's like the old stereotype of sex n marriage.

Yeah I guess so. It does feel like they come less frequently than before but I guess I don't really listen to music the way I did two years ago (when I stopped being super active on this site)

I just read the actual conversation here and you guys are just adorable. Try centering yourself? Start caring less about the little things and let the world come to you as it is acted out instead of trying to read the script. Know yourself and just be ready to have fun. I'm stoned though so only maybe trust me.

Haha, that's my attitude towards most things and it tends to work out pretty well at things that come naturally to me. But on other stuff you gotta make it happen by actively seeking it out.
"let the world come to you as it is acted out instead of trying to read the script"
is a pretty sweet line though ;-)

The cover grosses me out and I don't know why

Yeah:

But either way, this was such a great way for them to exit their careers IMO. Not the epic, bombastic work of art I originally wanted, but just a softly stated goodbye packed with a ton of lyrical meaning.

I feel like if this was epic and bombastic it wouldn't have a long lasting impression, or at least not as much as it does now

Lol, Stephen was on the Price is Right. He didn't win though, bit of a shame really.

Dunno why but only replying with "I'm a songwriter" to the question what he does makes him even more sympathetic. I mean...he could've said "I'm the vocalist of a band that toured around the world and has thousands of fans" or something like that lol

lol that's almost hilariously modest, he should have just said "I'm the lead singer for a band that's sold millions of records, named Anberlin" - at least a portion of the audience would have freaked out

I wouldn't be embarrassed to admit that, the sentimental value drives this higher than it normally would be. Even if this was say, their 3rd LP, I'd still rank it among their best works.

This is probably my 4th favorite album from them

Anyone who disagrees with this ranking is wrong:
1) Cities
2) Lowborn
3) New Surrender
4) Vital
5) NTFP
6) Dark is the Way...
7) Blueprints
