@Ecnal, definitely. Who knows, maybe you'll parse it differently from me if you ever decide to try to analyze it

@TMob, fuck yeah, couldn't agree more, but Ecnal is cool so I can dig his opinion.

@Storm, it is and sounds kind of stupid on a 6-string guitar. How's your interpretation coming along?

@Cyg I was about to get pissy but this is Vital so it's ok

I wouldn't say either is more accessible than the other, the band's pretty straightforward haha.

But cool Chortles hopefully you'll dig it

@Dr(notGregory)House

Hm they're probably not your type of music, I don't think you'd be able to "get into" the band more by listening to them

"Yeah dudes, it doesn't matter that it only uses 4 chords or whatever the hell, the start just sets up the latter half with the deep lyrics and awesome vocal delivery, then the climax just hits hard as shit and the choir vocals rule and when christian re-enters with his vox it's perfect."

The climax and choir does absolutely nothing for me, so yeah, that other stuff matters to me. I am also not real big on lyrics, so once again, it matters to me if the song is simple, boring and repetitive for the first 6 minutes. I don't really think his vocals are nearly as interesting in the beginning compared the the end. His vocals and lyrics aren't enough to make this song so great to me if I don't find what the instruments are doing interesting.

The song is literally a giant build to nothing for me, lol.

"Unwinding Cable Car is just three chords"

Yeah, and its half the length, has arpeggios and multiple lead lines mixed in to make it an interesting listen. Its not the same thing over and over and over again. I wasn't complaining that they only used 4 chords, I was commenting that for an entire 6 minute section they used the same 4 chords with the same strumming patter with the same one minor lead section over it and that's it.

but fin has more things going on during after the distortion goes on than unwinding cable car, such as random guitar solos/leads + a kid's choir + stephen's vocals, all of which are different melodies (aside from the rhythm)

i could argue that uwcc is more repetitive, given that the guitar has the same three chords + strum pattern the whole length, AND the lead guitar line just echoes Stephen's vocal melody anyways. I don't mind any of it at all but yeah, the only point I really see (in comparison to uwcc) is that it's double the length

The strum pattern actually does change up. I was confused at first learning it, because I thought it didn't, but it does.

the chords change too iirc, or at least the progression.

so maybe one has more repetitive rhythm, the other more repetitive lead

don't see the argument for it one way or the other

Bridge and chorus too yeah but on the verse you aren't playing the three chords over and over with the same timing. You gotta come in a Lil early or hold on a Lil longer with some each time and play off Stephen

Really? That might be why it's always weird when I try to sing along to the guitar. I thought my timing was off but maybe it's just that.
