the new song blows chunks and the lyrics are even worse than usual. The new album will at best be Gray Chapter 2.0.

I didn't dislike the new song tbh. not the best thing they've done, but it's quite enjoyable. Gray Chapter wasn't a bad album tho, I mean, it was more than sufficient

I didn't hate it or gay chapter, but compared to their first three, it's pretty gay.

Gray Chapter was okay, but that's the best they're capable of these days

It's kinda sad they went from 'Sic' to suc if you get my drift.

well the one main songwriter died of an od and the other was kicked out cause he could barely walk. Paul and Joey wrote 90% of the riffs/music on the first 2 albums. They were the driving force behind the band.

I didn't really think about that but good point. To me the main thing is they're middle aged dudes living very stable lives and enjoying success. Naturally the music is going to suffer proportionately.

Yea, that too. Slipknot is a cash cow at this point. And I also get the idea that if they went back with ross people would say they were "forcing it" (kinda like Korn III) and the album would be lame. Honestly, it's just not 2001 anymore and the band can't write songs like on this or s/t without it sounding forced and contrived.

Yaah Korn 3 was a horrible mistake. If Slipknot had remained in a headspace to put out consecutive Iowas, they all would be dead or close to it by now. Making that kind of shit has to take a toll.

The new song is fun as hell, great stuff minus the cringy spoken word segment.

Band definitely has one more great album in them.

But yeah, I ain't buying this 'it's gonna be IOWA heavy' bs cos they said that about TGC...

Lmao I also vividly remember those Iowa claims before Grey Chapter came out. They're literally using the same fucking comparison to hype this new album lol

Yeah, it's bs.

I hate it when bands do that and claim they're 'going back to their roots'.

Why would you want to do that? Surely your intent as a band is to grow and move away from your roots.

By pandering to the people who want you to go back to your roots you are inadvertently affecting your songwriting ability.
