the drumming is far from mediocre. it's played in odd time signatures a lot. the guitar leads aren't super technical but there are odd chord passages as well as some sweep and alternate picking and odd time signatured tapping. the breakdowns are pretty easy I will admit.
And btw, I can analyze this from a musical standpoint as well seeing as how I play guitar. Just saying.

the drumming is far from mediocre
didnt say it was. it's good. he just plays it safe. doesnt do anything that makes you go 'wow that guy is a great drummer'. he basically just follows the guitars.
odd chord passages
the chords are easily one of the best parts of the album, yes.
and it's not SIMPLE simple, all i was saying is compared to the discovery this is much less technical
