I recently aquired this and its my first Opeth album..
This must be a good place to start because this album is almost perfection in my eyes. The Leper Affinity is one of the best openers ever!
Can anyone tell me which album to get next? I've heard Ghost Reveries is immense...

Ghost Reveries is kinda meh for me. This still bordering on 4.5 but seems unable to cross the line. This album may have the best 1-2-3 songs ever (it is definetly in my top 5 in that category). I haven't really checked out who will be the top one in that.

I love Ghost Reveries. At first I didnt care much for it, but of course it kicked me in the ass one day and I think its simply incredible. C'mon, The Baying Of The Hounds!

Defjaw, Hey you never know. Put it to you like this: IMHO, Ghost is better than Deliverance, better than Damnation, and better than the first three all around. To me, the first three Opeths are the sound of the band finding their niche. Ghost Reveries better than Still Life? Probably not, but its arguable. Better than Blackwater? Definitely not. But wtf do you expect when Blackwater is that good? Oh and its wayyyyyy better than Watershed. This Message Edited On 01.21.09
