this isn't nearly as rewarding a listen as Alaska, but still pretty awesome

very true, Alaska has a lot more staying power

This is WAY better than Alaska. But still has way too many metal stereotypes for me to enjoy it completely.

I dislike a lot of it because a lot of it sounds uninspired, recycled.

this such an overblown silly album, but it's really fun.

I just can't take anything serious on this album.

I think I have to agree with the above two posters. Since I first began listening to this album i've knocked this albums score down a point mainly because of how Tommy seems unable to hit more than a couple ranges with his vocals(and sound good at the same time) and also because they'll add to the length of a song by playing a riff over and over again in which i've become bored and will just fast forward. I also still don't see why they threw in that hoedown and polka part.

Like many have said, this album lacks the staying power of Alaska. It's a better flowing album without any real filler, but Alaska has better songs. If that makes any sense. I think the album could have been better without Decade of Statues and Informal Gluttony. I would rate this a 4.5 if they took out those songs along with the guest vocals on Prequel to the Sequel and the hoedown on Ants of the Sky. The heavy parts are what really get to me though. They were done so much better on their previous albums.

I already feel like I am going to be disappointed by their next album though. Too many albums have been disappointing me this year already. The new Thrice album better be good.

Upon first listen, and for the next ten thousand listens over the first six months to a year that I had this album, I would have given it a 4.5 or even a perfect 5, but I don't think it's aging well. I'm never in the mood to listen to the whole thing, but I can barely listen to any one song without listening to the whole album. I think ALASKA is in this respect a better album, because I can still throw on "All Bodies" or "Autodidact" and leave it at that.
