Idk man, I've always felt like I have to like deafheaven more than I do. So I gave this a fair shot. There are some great moments in there, and it's a really stylistically bold album. But there's also some filler scattered here and there, making the songs longer than what I'd care to listen to, and the vocals could be slightly more dynamic. It's solid overall, but I'm rating higher than my actual appeal, out of respect to how interesting the effort feels.
Magnolia and Revelator absolutely RIP.
