I agree that's the ideal way but it depends on the artist. If the discog is extensive then I veer towards the highly rated releases first, then follow it up later if I feel like I'm getting anywhere. And in some cases it's better to go for whatever is generally considered the most accessible.

usually for a band like this id go chronologically, but really this album is only enjoyable if you got into it as a 16 year old who just got dumped, where worship and material control are much better overall albums

I think musically this hits the same sweet spot those albums do (or at least almost) but yeah the lyrics really do make it kind of juvenile and um...fucked up, to put it simply.

I was talking generally, in this case starting at the beginning seemed logical because like you say there isn't much in the way of material. Perhaps you could say they have tight Material Control. I'll show myself out...
