"This grew off me a little, the best parts of this record are seriously some of the best music I’ve heard in a while, but I feel like there’s a few songs that drag. I really don’t feel like this needs to be 75 minutes."
Yup been saying this since it came out, very good, but would be so much better trimmed down

Would I be right in saying this has a almost religious quality to it, gospel, perhaps? Lots of church like reverb

Ok, not gospel, I'm not versed in this field of music so I'll look dumb I'm aware, definitely christian sounding, anyway

There are some hints of gospel (on “Sun-Bleached Flies” in particular) but there is absolutely a bit of a CCM sheen to several moments here.

Haven’t visited this in a year or so. Just listened in entirety. God damn

Checking this out now cuz of the For Sure cover which was fantastic. I realize American Teenager is an outlier pop bop but she should probably do that more tbh cuz shes really good at that anthemic shit lol
The rest of this feels like Lana Del Rey Slowcore Edition which is fine, I don't love it but it is clearly excellently crafted stuff. Storytelling is superb

Honestly I think it’s kinda brilliant the way the record leads off with American Teenager and then turns into something completely different

But I do agree, she should be doing more shit like American Teenager

Honestly the deeper into the story this gets the less I care for it. Kind of a weird comparison point to make but it's giving Omori where the main relatable to the real world plot is fascinating but then it swerves into the fantastical too hard and loses the impact it once had to just become fiction instead.

punish is beautiful and if any of the new songs i heard her perform live recently are on the new album it should be very dark n slowcorey, hell yeah

Like the new single, not sure it touches the peaks here, but it doesn't have to

Apparently the new release is sort of a label obligation and is not be next part of the primary “Ethel Cain” thing

@smaugman, yeah maybe, but I’m very sensitive to autotune, and on this album it hit me in a very uncomfortable way. I’ll revisit it nevertheless once I’m off my Cure-binge.

Cautiously excited, some of these songs were already too long.
