ive always really appreciated that it doesnt really feel like a safe song for them. the vocal passage isnt consistent between any of the sections and its all focused on the idea of building itself forward instead of just verse chorus verse, which jesse is mind numbingly stuck in right now

i would infinitely take drifts prod over neons yeah, but they both sound bad. i guess the difference is at least theres some intentionality behind drift since that is the "them trying something different" album, wheras the guy mixing neon sounds like he has no idea what hes doing and it ruins it entirely. can barely jam the good songs on that anymore unless its through like a speaker. the drums are particularly unlistenable because theyre panned really weirdly and it like legit gives me a headache lmao. at least even if it sounded immaculate and pristine itd still be their worst album so its not a huge deal



also good fuckin luck to this band lol cannot think of anyone with a bigger mountain to climb but this record is proof they can do it so
