I guess my experience is an outlier here lol As much as I love this record and do think it's practically perfect, it does feel like Taylor hasn't yet made the sound her own. There is so much influence but little of what she's done before. Evermore struck me immediately as having all the pop hooks that I think Folklore somewhat lacked. It's like 1989's more mature sister, with melodies just as strong, if not even more so. (Tis The Season, Champagne Problems, and Long Story Short are the strongest examples) Like I said, I'm incredibly satisfied with Folklore and think it's the most beautiful thing she's ever released but I did miss some of her past character. Evermore is the album I secretly wished Folklore was.
