RTJ is a 4 band. They sometimes do 4.5 songs. Maybe one or two 5 songs. When the 4 songs get old they can turn 3ish.

Idk fam I might slap a five on this before too long. The closer, Ju$t, holy calamafuck, pulling the pin, and especially walking in the snow are all fucking flawless.

'but they do nothing for me. :/
Not even sure why I have their second album 4'd'
me too I really enjoyed their first Ive been an EL fan for like 15 years at that point so hearing him doing something pretty cool and new was dope. 2 I really enjoyed but within a year Id fell out with it. 3 was turd and this is just run of the mill.
'Been skimming tracks, the beats are like bleepity boop ad naseum'
This too. Apparently 'ELS BEST PRODUCTION EVER' to many. I know music is subjective but ffs

Strong words there. If I missed a better rap album this year I’d honestly love to get corrected.

Its not a case of correction though. That doesnt change what you or I feel about this record.
There hasnt been tons or hip hop ive enjoyed this year which is strange. For me Probably Armand Hammer/Freddie gibbs and Alchemist/The Korean Oddity/CLBRKS & Morriarchi are all far better albums but thats simply my opinion. Im well aware that this type of clicks and whistles Loud, Heavy sub bass hip hop appeals far and wide especially 'da kidz!' but the way those people talk about these beats baffles me. Theyre just not that good to me.... And even less so considering whos making them.

havent heard much hip hop but armand hammer was pretty good, freddie gibbs and the alchemist was okay

Freddie Gibbs is kind of like 2Pac. The lyrics are mostly serviceable and simplistic, but the delivery and energy he has more than makes up for it.
|
| |
He also gets blessed with great production.
|
| |
yeah he's been absolutely wasting great madlib beats for a minute

Album Rating: 3.5
Yeah but 2pac's delivery and energy were definitely better than Freddie's
