genghis does rule but sometimes it sounds too happy, compared to killers, wrathchild, rue morgue

transylvania sounds perfectly aggressive

titan i mean, in an album full of really aggressive songs, genghis khan seems really happy and out of place :P

im with you budgie, but i do find ghengis khan to bring the same 'highs' that another life, purgatory, the bonus track twilight zone brings, and even wrathchild but to a lesser extent

i do like the balance ......ghengis is pretty aggressive too man

we are lucky to have the first 7 bro, wouldn't change a thing about any of em.......dianno wouldn't have sustained the marathon that the band is still running

the mood on these first 2 are something though, right haha......kind of continued on beast as well.....record is pretty dark

Genghis Khan a happy song? I mean it's a little more melodic, but it doesn't have that happy energy to it at all imo

i totally get why di'anno was ready to leave but man.. di'anno/burr with maiden is probably the coolest band with the coolest sound, no one really did that before or after. i dig di'annos vocals with dark lyrics a lot more than the grandiose bruce vocals and epic storytelling lyrics

they're just two totally different bands i feel like

and yeah happy was a bad word. maybe.. proggy, and adventurous, idk. not dark and grimy or introspective or anything like with rest of the album

man all the reviews on the web are telling me that the title track of this album is the worst track of the di'anno days. why? it's my favorite iron maiden track. it's enormous. harris di'anno and burr go absolutely crazy on it. quintessential iron maiden track

I can't get into the Dianno days as much as you guys, but the title track is damn good I'd say. I don't really know how the 'internet' collectively rates every track, but there isn't a sub-par song here. All I know is, this Maiden is much different than the one I grew up with, and the quality speaks for itself. A different kind of beast if you will.. raw, loud, punkish.. unforgiving dirty rock attitude.. ain't nothin wrong with that. I think the beast got a clean shave after Dianno ha ha. Not sure where they would've gone after killers, but apart of me wants to believe Bruce took them to an epic level they wouldn't have been able to have reached with Di'anno. It's interesting to think about, but I like how it played out.
