I was glad that it didn't destroy you

How sad that would be

'Cause if it destroyed you

It would destroy me

Man Feeling Yourself Disintegrate just gets more and more intense as it goes and more lost and sort of dark and sad sounding. Love how it builds up into this monster of feeling.

And what a perfect opener for the album, sounds like literally an introduction to some crazy TV show or something.

This is indeed approaching classic territory.

Race is definitely the only opener this has, I think Eons two comments were unrelated

thinking about the time I saw these dudes for free in Sydney with some mates who didn't even know them. we had a massive group hug to Feeling Yourself Disintegrate, that shit was magic

touching base with this one and hmmm not sure how much i'm still feeling the magic. The Observer through to the end is an amazing stretch, but the Race For The Prize and Spark in particular are a little thin on their legs (and Slow Motion was always kinda annoying). gonna have to bump down slightly and see how Yoshimi's sitting these days

Still a classic but yh they def started to get a little corny on this, prob the first time they really started to lose that sense of "band-ness" too, mostly feels like Wayne and Steven lennon-mccartneying it up in the studio. Current track ratings would b like

Race- 9/10
Spoonful- 8/10
Spark- 9/10
Slow Motion- 8.5/10
What is the light- 10/10
Observer- 9.5/10
Superman- 9.5/10
Suddenly everything has changed- 9/10
The Gash- 10/10
Feeling yourself disintegrate- 10/10
Sleeping on the roof- 8/10
Spiderbite- 6/10
Buggin- 8.5/10

This is great stuff but jfc is it ever overrated. Race For The Prize, Spiderbite Song, Feeling Yourself Disintegrate, and Sleeping on the Roof are by far the best tracks

I love the first bunch of songs on this album and then lose interest. I dislike waiting for a superman
