Im going to be jamming this album a lot lately. Second Son of R is just monumental. This albums so painful and borderline distressing at points. Oathbreaker is the Sun to Amenra's Moon, the two bands are just such an amazing pair together. Yes I am aware they share members etc

It’s still wild to me that they basically hung it up and called it a day not long after dropping this… it felt like they were gonna be huge.
But maybe they still can be. Clearly there’s still a lot of interest considering it looked like they played to a lot of people at Roadburn and this redux sold out almost immediately

It was just because Caro moved to the states they told me it was never officially done a few years ago.

And tbf the lyrics and pure pain from this record would make it A) Hard to perform and B) hard to want to return to without giving it some time

I’ve said it before but if the band getting put on hold helped her mentally then it’s a good thing. Because yes, this thing is just painful. A person that’s satisfied with the way their life is going wouldn’t write something like this.
I have always wondered how involved she was with the songwriting process, because while being an incredible vocalist, she’s not even close to all this record has going for it. Like, I still can’t really put my finger on why I like this so much more than Wiegedood. And I really fkn dig Wiegedood…

I only dislike one song on this and its simply because its way to long for an interlude: Im Sorry, This is

No I didn’t, I’ll pull it up and give it a watch over the next few days. Thanks fam
And I feel that way about that track and Stay Here… Stay Here just doesn’t really have enough going on for me to consider it anything more than an interlude, but it’s like 5 mins long. And yeah completely agree on Im Sorry This Is.
Both would’ve been better if they found some way to chop them down.

Vocals definitely seem a little higher in the mix. Immortals is immediately noticeable, I’ll give it a proper listen with a decent set of cans tomorrow.
Shit, maybe I should’ve copped it when I had the chance.

Tbh, listening to them back to back… yes it definitely sounds “better”. At least there’s an actual noticeable difference. It’s been a while but I thought it would be like the Sunbather remaster… if you had a gun to my head and made me tell you which was the original and which was the remaster, I literally would just be guessing.
There is for sure a noticeable difference in the two. I’ll have to listen more to see if I actually like it more. It sounds crisper and the vocals got a very noticeable boost but not anything too crazy. But I don’t know if I actually like it more. Sometimes albums sound better if they’re a little dirty.
AND NOT YOU FAIL ME. THE REDUX IS BETTER.

Really just hope this was kind of a trial run to see if people were still interested in this project with maybe a full US tour? A man can dream.
