"One of my favorite Opeth moments is on Reverie/Harlequin Forest."

That's actually my favorite Opeth song ever

Indeed.

Wish they’d make music like this again.

This is perfect, yeah. Hours of Wealth is one of my favourite songs.

Would like to see the band go on a hiatus, let Mikael go off and do some other projects.

Hopefully, that way he'll come back re-invigorated with some fresh ideas.

Hawks - I couldn’t agree with you more.

Yea, but it seems like Mikael is through with growls. That's okay to me tbh, singing a way you don't feel just isn't fun or great for creativity. I'd welcome another album like Heritage

An album like this but with cleans could be possible.

The great thing about Opeth is that when they go 'heavy', the cleans can be implemented without sounding out of place.

I think taking three years instead of two for their next album is kinda like a little break for Mikael. He said quite often that writing music is like a vacation for him

He needs to take a vacation and bring riffs back with him.

I mean even if they kept making softer music they could at least make it similar to Hours of Wealth or Isolation Years. Both of those songs are perfect and they made a whole album full of awesome soft songs on Damnation so idk what happened.

Hearing his growls in recent years makes me think he maybe shouldn't go back to them. Maybe if he dedicated himself to getting them back he could do a decent job, but it seems clear that he doesn't have them anymore.

Yeah I don't care that they're making softer music now, I just care that it's infinitely more bland than what they were pre Watershed.

And true, his growls live a couple years back were not quite as good as they were when I saw them in high school.

Sweden is filled with excellent growlers, they should just hire one of those.
