Lol, I missed Rod’s meltdown. He’s unsurprisingly wrong as well.
I should probably revisit this.

"Dammit, is this going to be the first studio Bungle album I won't like? ugh"
Have that feeling too
|

doesn't seem like an entirely new studio album? it's a re-recording of their 1986 demo of the same name, with some covers and such added in from what I could tell.

yeah, seems much more like a "what might have been" project than a follow-up to California, or any of the 90s work really

Much more like a "what might have been" project than a follow-up to California [2]
Seeing this as a follow up to California is a massive dumb, if you heard the demos this makes perfect sense. This would be much better live than in studio though, still fun if you like thrash and Bungle (i.e me).

My investment in this project is minimal, but I checked the ‘new’ song out of curiosity and it sounds bizarrely generic. I can’t imagine many people who count themselves as fans can be disappointed by the road they eventually took.

Debut is very dumb and this is kind of cool, but also not entirely.

The way I see it is:
The debut was a bit too campy but really entertaining.
Disco volante is their uncompromising creative peak.
California is where they actually gave a shit about their listeners.

They're all very good albums, this one is my favourite though.

I waver sometimes between California and Disco being my favorite. It's like, do I want a full on crazy experimental experience, or do I want a more standard approach to song-writing that California provides? California is like Bungle's "pop" album.

this one is pretty much solidified as my favorite, s/t & Disco kind of alternate for the 2 spot tho, depending on the mood

Just went through this the first time. No words. I think all prog sucks now maybe?

its a mind bender yea
This and prog are allowed to coexist but I can see how this album's genius may make u think that

It’s hyperbole but god damn that was a ride. Blown away. The cut and pasting of genres should not work this well...
