Doesn't really imo.
Agalloch have never stuck to the same sound from one album to the next and this is just the next incarnation they felt like going for. It has moments that are comparable to ashes and PF while sounding completely different from those with how dense and engrossing it sounds.

Great review.
I still can't get into this after multiple listens for some reason, the most persistent theme seems to be a lack of energy. It's too subtle and "jammy".
