I've never been able to get into this one. It's impressive how consistently competent this is (across two discs no less) but it all just blends into one safe, long snooze-fest for me. I haven't liked anything they've done since like 2007 so I'm glad they're taking a step in the right direction here at least.

This doesn't nearly have all the tropes of melodeath, soilwork were always thrash and speed metal influenced, also carrying some blues and punk influences in recent years, definitely far from textbook melodeath
