Funny cos I originally hated this album then it just grew on me hard.

Tried this album so many times but does nothing for me. Still find it mediocre.

what stablereference said. theres so many throwback prog bands now that the last thing we need is more 70s worship. Opeth def needed to switch things up cuz even though they were highly original it was just getting a little old, but they need to strive for something new and not just revert to covering camel

"Really I feel this album's choice of direction was unnecessary when most modern prog acts are filled with enough throwback material already. Opeth were a band that had a style that was very distinct, yet this album has them sounding like various other prog acts. Most of the references are very kitschy at that, and the songwriting also feels more awkward than usual.
It isn't terrible, but I still stand by my old sound-off."

I've got to say, I wasn't expecting to be a huge Opeth fan when I first started listening to them this year but, so far it's been Blackwater Park, Ghost Reveries, Damnation and now Watershed. I'm not going to venture into Heritage just " yet but it could be next :P. They are second to Metallica in my "most listened to " bands list. Kewl shit

I'd recommend you stop listening to Metallica so much
