Yeah I love Tautou, but it definitely doesn’t feel fully fleshed out (not is it necessarily intended to be), which is why I don’t feel it should be included in the ranking.

"maybe they didn't have any good direction to take it"
it definitely feels like that kinda song. and it's perfect just the way it is. too bad the next thing that happens is sic transit gloria which ruins everything promising that preceded it

Jaws Theme and Guernica are two of the best songs on this album but nothing is less than a 4.5/5 for me here. Guernica speaks to me pretty heavily since my grandmother died at only 56, a thousand miles away from where I live and the song summarizes those feelings perfectly.

Jaws is probably my favorite BN song. I have always loved it.
Wow, that is about the definition of a song being relatable right there. That sucks. I am pretty far away from my family right now and my grandma is getting up there in age. It worries me.

Jaws is such an underrated song from them. When I first really got into this album I thought it was somewhat boring outside of a few songs and Jaws Theme Swimming is the one that really kept me coming back as the other songs slowly began to grow on me.
Then again I feel like it's hard to call Brand New songs underrated because most BN fans worship this band so we think every song is great.
Good to Know If I Ever Need Attention is probably my favorite song on here due to the last 3 minutes of the song, which has arguably my favorite bassline ever.

Boy Who Blocked His Own Shot and Maradona clearly stand out as the worst to me.

Boy Who Blocked might be top 5 Coldplay but it's definitely not top 5 Brand New

One of the best on here agreed

I could probably testify that I've never loved an album more than I did this one when I was 13/14 - or maybe as obsessively

100% same here, at exactly those ages. I was thinking about that the other day, I kind of wish that this didn't have a bajillion reviews because I'd like to try to work out in words what it is that makes this the most perfect 13 year old album.
Something about how it's emo-ish but not an eyeliner way, poppy but still alternative, emotional but with a sense of humour and some self-awareness, insecure but still confident and sometimes cocky, and has lyrics that make you feel (if you're a teenager) really smart for understanding and relating to them.
It really hits on all of those awkward contradictions of being that age.

I only heard this recently at 21 but I can definitely see how one would totally fall for it at that age/life stage.

Definitely thought you were considerably older than that honestly

Grew up so hard on this, TDAGARIM, and Daisy
I actually remember the day I bought this at along with Jupiter by Cave In at HMV back when it still existed (rip the store of my youth).

Haha really @Slex? I think I’ve been pretty open with my age during my time here. I guess my alt-country fandom ages me :D
