and i would put effigy as best suffo. the influence, the genre-shattering... it pushed death metal ahead so far, whether people like what it spawned or not. it was the biggest step forward in intensity in music other than probably reign in blood

Cant really disagree with that sentiment. I still wish theyd re-issue Pierced as well though. Thats still - imo - Suffo's most accomplished album

"pinnacle was dope"
Wrong. Did it stop being dope? NO. It STILL IS.
Pinnacle is sweet. Blood Oath is cool and I listened to that album on repeat for a week straight once. Idk why but I challenged myself to do it and it felt good.

Effigy is the best Suffo, agreed.

And the question remains: what the hell is this album art supposed to depict?
|
| |
Album Rating: 5.0
I've always wondered that myself. I see a crucifix in there. probably just supposed to look like some indeterminable malevolent location, which it pulls off nicely anyways.

All of their art is pretty difficult to find a cohesive image.

kinda adds to the appeal imo

they prob drew influence from bands like Carcass to fuck their art up in similar and disturbing ways with surreal and metaphorical images
|
| |
Personally I don't love their art but it's definitely distinctive.

I'm a fan, the indeterminable nature of their art, especially the early art, has a ton of charm for me
|
| |
I always dug their logo a lot though.
