Still remember the first time I heard The Grand Conjuration when I was like 14. I've been hooked ever since.

funny I find that one of the weaker tunes on here, all about ghost of perdition, baying and reverie/harlequin

I'm biased towards it because it was the first Opeth song I ever heard haha. But yeah, Ghost of Perdition and Reverie/Harlequin Forest are probably my two favorites.

I think Ghost of Perdition was the first Opeth song I heard, when I was about 13.

Good one to start with. I'd say that's one of their best songs ever.

Ghost of Perdition is easily the best song but I mean The Grand Conjuration is just so fucking evil-sounding.

Ghost of Perdition is probably my fav but it's hard to pick one. The songwriting here is very consistent.

First song by them I ever heard was April Ethereal, still my favourite song and album.

MAYH is like almost on the same level as this for me. It was my favorite for a long time.
|

Ghost of Perdition was my first favorite "heavy" Opeth song, so this album is very nostalgic to me although I rarely listen to it anymore.

4.2, but still underrated

Blackwater Park owns this easily. It's a good record though, and pleasing within Opeth standards.
I'm halfway through it, BTW.

How can you say Blackwater Park owns it if you haven't even listened to the whole thing yet. Also, this is their best album, so Blackwater Park doesn't own it at all.
