I get that people prefer the tech-prog-death albums Death started to make since Human (and arguably already since Spiritual Healing). The band progressed, became more technical, experimental and whatnot...and I get that, I myself love all of the later albums as well. But when you take a real good look at this album right here, you'll find that it's in its own way just as good and just as effective at what it sets out to do than any of the later albums. It's got murky as hell, bone-crunching riffs, gruesome lyrics, Chuck's most disgusting and insane vocal performance and an effective atmosphere that just evokes a stenchy feeling of piss and rot. PLUS it's got Reifert on drums.
NOW LET'S ALL COME TO OUR SENSES AND BUMP THIS FUCKER'S RATING UNTIL THE TOTAL'S AT LEAST THE 4 IT DESERVES
