@Gentleman The first four songs on Beat are pretty dope. How about "Waiting Man?" I think I might agree though. Each Crimson album before it probably had a bigger standout.

Neal and Jack and Me, Sartori and Neurotica are Beat's highlights for me. Great songs, but not as good as anything in Discipline nor the best stuff in this one

Playing this , at the moment.
Remastered 2001 japan version, sound just right
Extremely enjoyable rewarding listening session.
Three of a Perfect Pair, perfect opener.
Always amazed by the pure & dedicated talents of these musicians.
Musical history will remember them.
Sleepless, sweet tune, Tony Levin is such a cool bass/chapman stick player.
Perhaps Discipline is a notch higher but TOAPP has nothing to envy to both (B & D) [2], agreed

Surely, gonna rate bump it.
Very creative record.
Part of the Trilogy along side B & D.
Similar in many ways but also different in other ways.
Because it is the last of this trilogy, expectation were too high, imo.
Of course, each LP, of this 3 pack, is good.

Adrian Belew, outstanding as usual. This singer is so original.

Larks' Tongue In Aspic, part.3, sublime closer.
No other choice, bump rate, it is, with room for another bump, if necessary.
Those, that are impatient and a bit too rigid with this album wont be rewarded.
Their is some parts of this LP that need time to grow.

🔥Sleepless🔥[2], again, you are sleepless, he said.
Dont fight it, it's over your head, it's alright you end up in your bed.
See, no worries + Tony Levin, perfect play. m/

this is finally starting to click with me; only KC besides Consucktion that remain for me to really dig

''I don't think there is a song on it that stands out as an "awesome song"
haha I on the contrary think that there is not a single KC album which has a more outstanding song than Beat has with 'Neurotica', in the sense of being a song that is so much better and more interesting than the other songs on the album.. not hard to achieve with Neurotica being on par with the greatest classics of KC but Beat as a whole easily being their weakest album

This is an excellent album btw. Sleeplees, Nuages and Industry being my favorites but all songs are good and even the strange flow of the album somehow works for me...
Great review also, especially for being a semi track-by-track one.

I agree. This is an excellent work of the band. About their studio works in the 80's, isn't as good as Discipline but is better than Beat.

I never really dug this album (or Beat) until I heard them play songs from them on Absent Lovers, but when I did I fuckin loved the tunes. I still don't mesh with how this and Beat *sound* but it's clear to me that it isn't the songwriting that's responsible for that, now. Absent Lovers is a Space Ritual tier amazing live album so that definitely helps.

These aren't two of my favourite works of them but they're still great. But this one is better than "Beat".

I love this
I love their 80s trilogy

I like very much of this one and especially of "Discipline". But despite I like also of "Beat" I don't like of it in the same level I like the other two.
|
| |
I see. Beat starts off a bit rough especially with "Heartbeat", but personally I think from track 3 onwards it's all top-notch quality
