I don't know, it seems like most modern metalcore has to put so much emphasis on the vocals to make the music stand out from the rest of the generic crap out there. Like, the vocals are layered over the really cookie cutter sounding music and the lyrics are usually lame. Bannon's voice has continually strayed away from that. He has gone from semi coherent, to just flat out demonic rasps, roars and shrieks. As opposed to Atreyu, where you have that dude's really overproduced voice pushed to the top of the music, with the generic lyrics in your face (I like Atreyu's Suicide Notes..., I'm just noting the difference between most modern metalcore and Converge). Bannon's incoherent screams have always had a way of either melding with the music to achieve a higher level of chaos or just piercing through suddenly at climactic points, instead of the droll trudging vocals of alot of modern metalcore.

I mean I'm not in love with his vocals but you've got a point about Bannon. Along with all of that he sounds like no other. I still need to hear this whole thing.

Bannon's lyrics and voice fits with the music perfectly. He even says in Albatross, "We breathe out of key and wonder if you can hear the awkwardness in these tremors. Draining, cutting, this cancer out".

Man, only like 3 months until I see Converge. I just hope they play "Drop Out". Anything they play will be amazing, but I just want to hear that riff so bad.
