Yes you can, if you're talented.
He used triggers, but they digitally fucked with it
for the video. He's a mediocre drummer, if you're
looking for good doublebass theres millions out there
that are better....check out Nile.

Nile has some great drumming....
Not a huge fan of AILD but as always,
Great Review!
Shadows, you write the best reviews on here. By far.

Once upon a time, an old friend of mine said "hey, if you like heavy music, you will love as i lay dying!" i took his advice, and then realized that this was about as fun as putting my head between a door and slamming the door about 10 times. This album seems more like a mash of notes than actual playing, and it gets really annoying, real fast. Although, 94 Hours isnt that bad...but it still aint that great....good job on the review too man

How can you like the first 4 or 5 songs on the album and only give it 1 star out of 5?

It's old. Very old. I've changed many ratings without editing the rest of the review to match, so it doesn't correspond well anymore.

These guys seem pretty good, but nothing really amazing. But for all the people preaching Converge, i have to say they really blow... Nice review by the way.

AS I LAY DYING IS THE GREATES BAND OF ALL TIME!!!! i dont know what you guys who say AILD is 'alright' are thinking, they are so much batter than converge and eighteen visions... just listen to 94 hours, Distance Is Darkness, The Pain Of Seperation, and, Elegy and you'll know im right. I mean, listen to the guitars and the lyrics!!! awesome... get their second CD it rules too...
|
| |
This was a good album, but the more I listened to it the sooner I ended up switching CD's...
|

Bloodline_Calling, this is their second CD.

saw them a couple weeks ago. i love them. but, is it me, or do they play in the same key, and use the same chords and notes a real lot of the time.
there drummer...is a talented drummer...great double bass pedal usage. guitarists...are average...write good stuff though. screamer...writes some good meaningful lyrics and is good. the singing is good to...done by the guitarist.

Lot of converge haters on here. I get the feeling they're totally missing the point of the band.
I don't even really approve of the comparison, these guys and converge are at totally different ends of the metalcore spectrum...plenty of people who would dig AILD would listen to, say, Jane Doe, and just have their heads ripped off and thrown across the room by the terrifying wave of noise they've just unleashed.
Anyway, IMO, AILD -> Meh. Collision is alright off this album, and their newer one had two or three not bad songs on it, but damn they're generic...

this album is not awful.

This is actualy a great album, but i prefer it in small bursts.
I find that if you listen to it for to long you tend to get bored of it. But then il listen to it later and think that its great
