Exactly what I was thinking. I meant gothic AS FUCK country. I don’t listen to a ton of it, but I always gravitated toward gothic country when I do.

Gothic country isn't very different from gothic folk, right?

I'm not there is probably my favorite here. Has a kinda 90s vibe to it. Somewhere between grunge and the cranberries

@xing

There’s for sure similarities, but I’ll admit I’m too stupid to explain the differences, I just know I can HEAR the difference between something like Birth of Violence and, well, most anything that’s “proper” gothic country

Idk if that makes sense

@eak

I can definitely hear a lot of 90’s alt influence on some of these tracks

I'm enjoying the more straightforward approach here. The opener and closer are my faves

The closer is fucking excellent tbh, I kinda wish Death is Not The End wasn’t a single because damn that would’ve been a massive climax for this record. Still is obv but it would’ve been a nice surprise I guess is what I’m saying.

Now that the weather is rainy, this fells like a comfort blanket. Not something that you haven't heard before but it is executed so well that you can't complain. It's so nice to see her ease into herself, be playfull and reach for some lightness for a change.

I see this as the perfect introductory record to new listeners, yes!

Finally picked up the indie store variant, im not crazy about the color but it came with a signed insert so…

Not really any artwork inside and the lyrics are that big ass paragraph jammed together on the back of the sleeve. Ah well, I love the album cover and it’s going right on the wall

Don't quite get why she is playing all songs from the album live, except I'm Not There and Dancer in the Sky.

Don't know about that, but the setlist looks great, with some cuts from Hiss Spun as well. Still haven't figured out if I can see her in November but it would be awesome, the last time was in 2015, a very-very long time ago.

have you seen her before Xing? She’s absolutely incredible live. And you better hope she plays Feral Love, that song is fucking MASSIVE live. Like heavier than a lot of metal bands could ever hope to be.

I think seeing these tunes live might give you some new appreciation for them. Seethe would make me wanna shake my ass, that throbbing bassline is amazing

I saw her live some time during her Abyss/Hiss Spun era and it was incredible. 500 cap venue totally packed and the band sounded IMMENSE. Tonight’s show is 1500 cap so I’m expecting a very different experience. Got some balcony seats so I can relax and enjoy the show. I played the album on the drive and it still isn’t hitting for me but it took me a long time to warm up to She Reaches Out and now I love it so we will see. Excited either way because Chelsea is clearly in top form vocally.

woah, she’s really trying for a bigger audience. Good for her.

Yeah man im sure it’ll be an incredible show. I saw her on the She Reaches Out tour and she played pretty much the whole thing. I’m assuming she’s doing the same for this.
