Definitely agree that heavy metal is inherently cheesy and/or campy and has been since its inception. Lactose-free metal is exceedingly rare.

Also agreed.

Last good album was Volition agreed
Can't get into this shit its just nonsense the whole way through. Sprinkle in some heavy parts or something memorable idk. It's just Rody sounding like a dipshit and buddy jerkin the guitar

I like the way buddy jerks it

generally i’d like more harsh vox and dissonance like 3:30 of grandfather’s axe but i really can’t complain cause i love everything here

This continues to grow on me. I feel that songs like fishhook and mouthpiece are actually much more impactful statements about our current world than palimpsest in general. I like when the lyrical style is more Earnest and less academic

Yall really fuckin glazing this one here huh?
Grandfather's Axe is the worst song I've ever heard in my entire life.
It's painful how tired Rody is sounding.
Kezia/Volition/Palimpsest best albums. Palimpsest was such a melodic album and this is such a limp fart melodically/every melodic moment on the album just feels like a weaker version of Mist.
There are nice moments here/definitely not complete dogshit but landed as their weakest album by a billion miles for me as a fan since Kezia. 4.5 or 5/5 on an 8 year wait for their limpest offering of 30 mins is craaaaaazy.

I will appreciate the mention of mist but this is really enjoyable. Also been listening to Volition which is much stronger than I remembered. Crisp production and some of their best compositions

This thing is speaking to me. Subsequent listens have only deepened my appreciation. God I love this band.

album fucks. might do my own review.
anyway, love the vocal variety we get from Rody on this. production/mixing is also phenomenal, might actually be the best we've gotten from them
fishhook is a top 5 pth song

Fishhook is so "real". I know in my heart Palimpsest is their "best work" even if Volition is still my fav.

Even though I’m team glaze for this album I will admit the pop-punky stuff on Fishhook and The Orchard is my least favorite side of this band. Both songs have sick bridges though that make it worth my time though.
Grandfather’s Axe > Liberty Spike > The Mariner (all 3 close for me) > Mouthpiece > The Orchard > Fishhook

im kinda surprised i love Fishhook as much as i do. fucking pop-punktest the hero.
but i fuck with Mystery Weekend so not really THAT out of left field! and yeah, the lyrics cut, i love Rody
"Grandfather's Axe is the worst song I've ever heard in my entire life." lmfao im glad im not you

For me Mouth piece is at bottom as its the most "derivative or been done before" cut here while rest are genuinely surprising in what they offer as far as band goes. I love the dig me out section in fishhook so much
