Only one listen in but thus far only pep talk appeared to me to be a worthy addition to my personal best of DCFC.
Stone over water sounded nice and same with trap door.
Last 3 albums for me all outshine it, Nothing on it like pepper, I miss strangers, your hurricane, you moved away, little wanderer, black sun or ghosts of Beverley
Yeah “best album since plans” seems such a strange take for mine?
What are the songs you rate most of it hawks? Maybe that will help me grasp it more?

Certainly the back half of the album flows better and is much more interesting than the first half. That said i can't escape how addictive is the riff of Punching the flowers.

First Death Cab I’ve fully listened to since Plans and it’s solid, some parts reminded me of The Photo Album which works for me. Not a lot of standout melodies from what i recall but could see it growing for sure. Nice review Hawks!

Fuck yeah!! That's what I like to hear.

lol the 1.5 was me helping create the perfect distribution spread the other day. I will get rid of it

Ben Gibbard needs to go through more divorces. Best they’ve sounded in a long time.

Hmm.
Finally gave this a spin and I'm having a hard time understanding the high rating. It's fine, but I think Asphalt Meadows is the better album. Jason McGerr has always been the secret sauce to my favorite Death Cab albums, and his drumming here is fairly straightforward.
Hoping I'll like it more on spin three.

Idk man, this one just really touches me. I seem to be one of the only ones with a super high rating, but thats okay lol.

I will say, I do like the shame vibes on How Heavenly.
Feeling a heavy 3, but might be 3.5 over time. All Death Cab albums are potential growers

Ive only ever jammed Plans but I might just give this a listen tomorrow, and fuckin A right man, 2026 has been unbelievable so far. Best year for music in a long time, and it’s barely June!

Ive tried, but apart from Pep Talk (real good) Trap Door (good) and Flavor of Metal (decent) i find the rest very take it or leave it, even Punching the Flowers and Riptides etc.
Dunno, i'm glad its resonating for some though, and i know how it can happen, an album with no real obvious reason can grab you sometimes, this one just hasn't.
Maybe subconsciously it is due to the pox album cover. Do not like that either!!
