New neurosis is so tight.
And agreed sowing. If you know damn well it’s quality record but not your thing, respect is afforded.

I can certainly see what other’s are appreciating in this, in terms of the textually layered compositions, in-between world ethereality, nostalgic emotionality, and the general skill with which it was carefully put together etc.,
But boy oh boy, I don’t know why, I’m not 100% sure what it is, but something peculiar about the melancholy/saccharine, overly-earnest dreamy tone of stuff like this *grates* on me.
On the other hand, there are enough lush tones and subtle flavors that I can look past that tone and still enjoy elements of this, which balances out into a pretty lukewarm experience.
Anyway, not that I’m going to yuck anyone else’s yum and I’m in the clear minority, wanted to like it and went in expecting to, but I just can’t at this present juncture. Maybe in the future.

If it helps, I also don’t like Sigur Ros try as a I might, so maybe this style just isn’t my jam ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Perfectly reasonable and well stated. Nobody should feel forced to like something just because it's getting acclaim, and there's nothing wrong with appreciating something without falling in love with it.
|
| |
have you heard any of their other albums in full scuro
|
| |
I find it socially irresponsible and environmentally destructive to not enjoy Sigur ros.

Lol
That’s reasonable though Scuro. My Hammock is nothing if not unapologetically earnest.

This would easily my AOTY if Neurosis' new album didn't exist. 2026 is absolutely insane.

Nah I’ve never heard of these guys before now

Not digging this, atmospheric synths Post Rock seems the same for 20 years now from Sigur Ros to Lights & Motion etc

^I feel the same about the new athletics from last year. There's definitely still tons of good ambient and post-rock out there but these legacy groups aren't the ones taking it anywhere anymore.
|
| |
Don't think it needs to "go anywhere", sometimes it just sounds good, brother.
|
| |
try departure songs before you write the band off scuro, its their magnum opus

Yeah, where does it need to go exactly? Where does traditional death metal need to go? I swear things sounding the same is only the problem when it comes to post rock. In the last TWENTY YEARS? It’s been the same? I hate this take every time.
|
| |
Post metal - Post rock do absolutely evolve, we've seen it with bands like Russian Circles, Caspian, Maybeshewill, Sleepmakeswaves, Hubris, ASIWYFA, 65dos just to name a few, they are influenced and experiment by electronic, grunge, math, djent etc
This on the other hand is absolutely boring and repetitive for the last 20 years, same old shit

Oh so you just don’t like this band. You keep using this time length of 20 years and you do realize hammock have been around are a little over 20 years?

after listening to music as sleepy as this formula is for so long it actually does need to eventually evolve and "go" somewhere imo. which it is, just not by these older groups. This *sounds* great but yeah I'm like scuro, this floats around my head for a while then dissipates into nothing.
